Pictorial Space
By using dramatic color common, traditional subjects are energized and enlivened.
Randomly, one color is layered over another with the painting knife. The result is a depth of color, each layer shown clearly or muted; eyes excavate through the individual layers. Other times the still world is subjected to careful scrutiny, a controlled, detailed painting of objects, no focal point, seemingly without end. One thin mark is painted at a time; viewers are forced to optically fuse the various hues together. Thus, with one diminutive brush stroke at a time, the painting can develop volume, spatial placement, and depth of color.
Therefore, it retains the full saturate color rather then greying the colors as they recede into "Pictorial Space."
In "Pictorial Space", the most traditional subject becomes exciting - modulating volume from its cool dark side to it's light warm side. Whereas, "Duality: Produce and Cultural" features many bits of information that suggest a single meaning. "Produce" relates to the crops, or harvest, of a country. Within that same pictorial space, geometric elements signify "Cultural". The geometric shapes use all the colors from the country's flag.
